OPEN PLAY
The Open Play program is a non-competitive opportunity for NYC members to meet up each weekend, from April through October and play golf. The program is driven by group participation. Each member of the group will be required to set up one golf outing over the course of the season. For setting up just one outing, you will receive weekly emails with tee time information.
How to Participate
Sign up! Email the Open Play Chair at openplay@ewganyc.org. Please include ALL of the following info:
• First name, last name
• EWGA member number
• Preferred phone number
• Preferred email address
• Preferred date that you want to schedule Open Play
• Preferred place to schedule play: public or semi-private course
THE WEEKENDS WILL BE SPLIT. One day of the weekend, play will be scheduled at a public course and the other day, play will be scheduled at a semi-private course. The dates will alternate by month. For example, in May, Saturdays will be on a public course and Sundays on a private course. This will change in June, Saturdays will be semi-private and Sundays will be public.
When you sign up, you have effectively volunteered to be an Open Play Coordinator for ONE round of golf (on a Saturday or Sunday) during the season.
Important Note: We are still looking for a few volunteers to join the Open Play Committee. These volunteers would help run Open Play, with the help of the EWGA Board.
Open Play Coordinator Responsibilities
• 7-10 days prior to your Open Play assignment, obtain 2-3 consecutive tee times at any course of your choosing. Please make these tee times in the AM, when possible.
• Send an email to the Open Play Chair at openplay@ewganyc.org by 12:00 pm on the Monday prior to your assignment and provide: course name and address; tee times; greens fees (with and without cart); your email address and phone to which interested participants should respond; and the deadline by which people must respond to you. The standard deadline is 12:00 pm Thursday. If this deadline does not work for you, please contact us to work out a resolution.
• The Open Play Chair will forward the information to all NYC members on Tuesday by noon.
• All those who wish to play that weekend will respond directly to your email by the deadline.
• If all the tee times do not get filled, call the course back and give the course a final head count. You will need to do so to not incur unwanted charges, so know the course deadline.
• Please note that you do not have to play on the date you are assigned to schedule Open Play! All we ask is you coordinate one round.
• After your Open Play date passes, please send the Open Play Chair another email with the names of the participate.
